Tulum - a really great beach
When we came to Cancun we really wanted to spend a few days soaking up the sun on some nice beaches. Our favourite by far was a beach at Tulum, a historic city. The Caribbean Sea looked so lovely and clear, and the water was lovely and warm. There were also some nice Mayan ruins nearby, which was a real bonus. I would really recommend this beach, because it was never crowded and just lovely.

The famous Chichen Itza
This has got to be the number one sight day trip and one of the most famous in the whole of Mexico. I found the Chichen Itza nothing short of spectacular and these Mayan ruins really made me try and imagine what is must have been like here a long time ago. The Chichen Itza is around three hours from Cancun but you've just got to make the effort to get here. We got up nice and early, so it made the journey seem much shorter, because we were here with plenty of time on our hands. The Chac Mool sculpture was one of the best bits when we actually went inside this Mayan pyramid. Inside it was quite a steep climb and very hot - bring water, and lots of it!
